James Skinner has led the efforts to bring order to ACC storage including installing fold-down steps to the area next to Studio-Z. He has also become the Coop’s mainstay for computer needs. Next year, 2011, will mark the 100th anniversary of the Acadia Cinema Building on Main Street, Wolfville, as an arts venue. The original building at the front was constructed in 1907. From the earliest days the Acadia Cinema Cooperative Ltd (ACC) has received unprecedented support from shareholders and community volunteers. When ACC received an ACOA Innovative Communities Fund grant in 2009 a great deal of volunteer work has been required and is still underway. Northern Guests Volunteer for ACC Malorey Nirlungayuk, 17 (Fort Simpson) and Kanayok Klengenberg, 15 (Yellowknife) were in Wolfville this summer under Northern Youth Abroad, a Katimavik-like program for NWT and Nunavut youth from 15—21.
